Do Social Media Affect Fake Stimuli - What To Know:

Why and Where Did They Start:

We as humans, survive on a default basis by solving problems, which is interrelated to food, shelter, money etc. The birth of social media came into existence with the same idea to solve the problem on communication with other humans. Interacting with friends and family across long distances has been a concern of humans for centuries. As social animals, people have always relied on communication to strengthen their relationships.

Earlier the information is communicated through letters and it got transformed into a mail with the innovation of computer and network technologies but these computers were not portable to carry with you all the time. After the invention of smartphones, it made easy to everyone to carry a minicomputer in their pockets, which made communication a lot more easier.

Social Media Today:

After the invention of blogging, social media began to explode in popularity. Sites like MySpace and LinkedIn gained prominence in the early 2000s, and sites like Photobucket and Flickr facilitated online photo sharing. YouTube came out in 2005, creating an entirely new way for people to communicate and share with each other across great distances.

By 2006, Facebook and Twitter both became available to users throughout the world. These sites remain some of the most popular social networks on the Internet with Instagram joining to this list later on. Other sites like Tumblr, Spotify, Foursquare and Pinterest began popping up to fill specific social networking niches.

Are Social Media Fake?

Let's come to our main point ARE SOCIAL MEDIA FAKE? Just 5 percent of people view social media as being positive for their mental health, the survey found. Another 45 percent say it has both positive and negative effects. Two-thirds of the survey's respondents believe that social media usage is related to social isolation and loneliness. Right now social media has changed from communicating to advertisement platform. We humans are greedy to capture the right opportunity in order to sustain our business and I also appreciate that but the main concern are the individual, who are getting affected by it. Let's face the truth, people portrait themselves as high status through their posts and DMs, which they are not in their real life. The person you see on Facebook and Instagram are fake majority of times.

Conclusion:

Finally it comes to the individual on his/her use case of social media. If you're starting a genuine business and what to promote it, social media are cheap and best place to do it. But if you want to portrait as a different person which you're not, you can use that time to become that person by utilizing your time for more productive things.
